Phil RobertsonTogether with Chris Curling, Phil Robertson runs Zephyr Films, a London-based independent production company specialising in the financing and production of British qualifying films. Over the last ten years Phil has been involved in the raising of finance and successful production of over 20 international feature film productions.

Phil has just completed Penelope, which Zephyr executive produced with Scott Steindorff’s Stone Village Pictures and Reese Witherspoon’s Type A Films. Penelope stars Christina Ricci, Reese Witherspoon and James McAvoy. The film received its Gala premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in September 2006.

2007 sees the release of Hannibal Rising, The Last Legion and Virgin Territory,  a trio of films that Phil co-produced with the De Laurentiis Company and Tarak Ben Ammar’s Quinta Communications, with combined budgets in excess of $150,000,000.

Hannibal Rising was written by Thomas Harris and directed by Peter Webber. The film stars Gaspard Ulliel, Gong Li and Rhys Ifans. The Last Legion stars Colin Firth, Sir Ben Kingsley and Aishwarya Rai and was directed by Doug Lefler. Virgin Territory was written and directed by David Leland and stars Hayden Christensen, Mischa Barton and Tim Roth. All three films are being distributed by the newly formed Weinstein Company. Ingenious Film Partners co-financed the films.

Currently in production is Zephyr’s Anglo/Australian co-production of Gillian Armstrong’s Houdini film Death Defying Acts. The film stars Guy Pearce and Catherine Zeta Jones. The film is backed by BBC Films, the UKFC, the FFC of Australia, Newbridge and the Bank of Ireland.
